Ask a Sex Therapist

Is it normal for a married couple to go as long as 2-3 months without sex? I am not aware of anything going on with my wife that would lead to problems in the bed.

One of the questions I receive the most is how often should couples have sex. There is no direct answer to this. Whatever works for both partners is how often couples should have sex. Some couples have sex daily, some have sex weekly, some have sex monthly and some have sex yearly. If you and your partner are satisfied with the amount of sex you are having there is no issue. The problem arises when one partner wants to have sex more or less often than the other partner. I suggest you communicate with your wife, find out her interests and see if they match your interests. Find a common ground and reconnect with each other. - Answer provided by Jason S. Quintal, Ph.D., MSW, LCSW, DrJ@RelationshipSpecialties.com, www.RelationshipSpecialties.com.
