Ask a Sex Therapist

I have a low quantity of sperm ejaculation and associated testicular pain. I have been to two different urologists and they both said I am fine. The issue is that I still have a problem and the urologists don't seem to be concerned as it is not life threatening. This has an effect on my sexual performance and want to find out why so I can at least look for solutions. Where do I go from here? I live near Seattle.

It sounds as if you may need to find another urologist. Assert yourself and seek answers to your concerns and your questions. Don't let him walk away from you before you get what you need from him. If you have to, follow him out into the hall. - Answer provided by Tim Britton, Ph.D., AASECT, ABS, timbritton@yahoo.com.

Low sperm quantity associated with testicular pain could come from a variety of different sources. You could have Varicocele which is a mass of varicose veins in the scrotum, an STD or other infection, or other body issues such as inflammation of the prostate gland, cystitis, or kidney stones. If this continues to affect your sexual performance, there are surgeries that can be done to help relieve your symptoms. - Answer provided by Jason S. Quintal, Ph.D., MSW, LCSW, DrJ@RelationshipSpecialties.com, www.RelationshipSpecialties.com.
