Ask a Sex Therapist

I am a 23 year old woman and for the last couple of months, I have not enjoyed having my nipples touched or stimulated at all. Up until then I always enjoyed it and needed it to have an orgasm. Now I just become annoyed when my partner touches them! I know that I am aroused though because I still enjoy the actual sex part! Any idea why this would happen?

There are many things that can cause nipple sensitivity to change. Have you been doing anything different, i.e. wearing different bras, taking birth control, or using a different kind of detergent or fabric softener? Has your menstrual cycle changed or been off? Have you started using hormonal creams or supplements? If you’ve always needed your nipples stimulated to orgasm maybe they’ve just been over stimulated for now. Things change in our bodies all the time. Surly you remember things you used to like to eat or do at an earlier time that just don’t interest you now. - Answer provided by Jenny Friend, MFT, JennyFriendMFT@sbcglobal.net, www.CenterForClarity.org.
